OUR STORY
In 2020, Active Lifestyles Centre Grey Bruce celebrated its 10th Anniversary. Since the very beginning the Centre has opened the door to exciting and affordable programs that promote healthy and active aging. We have seen amazing changes take place over these past 10 years.
Grey Bruce has one of the highest per capital of seniors living in the area and they are a growing segment of our population. In 2008 Donelda Stewart & Jan Chamberlain strongly advocated at a City of Owen Sound Council meeting to provide space for a Senior’s Centre. After numerous meetings and several day trips to other senior centres in Southern Ontario, the City of Owen Sound offered the McQuay Tannery Building for seniors programming. |
In 2014 the Centre’s name was changed to Active Lifestyles Centre Grey Bruce, a new logo was unveiled…
Today, the Active Lifestyles Centre continues to serve the 55+ age group in our community by providing an array of programs and services. Some of the activities our members enjoy include Duplicate Bridge, Arts & Crafts, Acrylic Art Classes, Georgian Bay Lace Makers, Progressive Bridge, Progressive Pepper, Gentle Yoga, Billiards/Snooker, Line Dancing, Traditional Rug Hooking, Computer Tutoring, & more. We strive for excellence and depend on teamwork, voluntary service and donations to support our mandate which has resulted in a supportive community atmosphere. Everyone involved over the past 10 years have added to the richness of the experiences here at our Active Lifestyles Centre. We thank everyone who has helped these past 10 years. |
