Seniors of Grey Bruce is a Facebook Group for seniors who reside in Owen Sound, Georgian Bluffs, rural areas and surrounding communities of Grey-Bruce, Ontario. You can view activities, events and seminars that will be of specific interest to seniors at the Active Lifestyles Senior Centre Grey-Bruce; the Derby Community Centre, (Kilsyth Arena);  Kemble, Shallow Lake, and other areas surrounding Grey-Bruce.

MyChart Offers New Online Tool for ​Grey Bruce Patients

A new online tool called MyChart gives Grey Bruce Health Services patients easy access to their personal health information.
MyChart allows patients to view test results from visits to all 40 participating hospitals.

Patients will see results from blood work, medical imaging, lab results, medications, allergies, microbiology results, discharge summaries, pathology and genetics reports. Read More...

Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario

Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario is a province wide organization with an extensive 'library' of information and educational webinars which are available to everyone.  The overwhelming majority of the webinars are free of cost as are all the resource materials.  http://www.elderabuseontario.com/

This offers information and consultation for anyone involved in or aware of abuse situations.

Senior to Senior Anti-Bullying Toolkit ​

We would like to share the newly launched Senior to Senior Anti-Bullying Toolkit with you as you have been identified as a stakeholder to the Senior Bullying project. 
 
This toolkit is a culmination of our 3 year research project entitled "Bullying Between Older Adults: What is Happening in Ontario?"
 
We encourage you to use this FREE toolkit and to please share it as far and wide with your networks as possible. I have attached the toolkit to this e-mail & you can also download it from Sheridan's open access platform at:

Keeping Connected During COVID

Please find attached an information sheet regarding COVID-19 and Older Adults and People with Compromised Immune Systems. It can also be found here on the Grey Bruce Health Unit’s website.
 
Everyone can take steps to reduce exposure to the virus and protect our own health and the health of others.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Sneeze and cough into your sleeve.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Avoid contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Practice social distancing to reduce exposure to other people.
  • Self-isolation for all international travelers for fourteen days, beginning upon the first day of their return to Canada.

Driverseat Owen Sound
Starting tomorrow Thursday March 19th we will be offering DONATION ONLY in town transportation or delivery services from 8 am to 5 pm for Seniors and other Vulnerable People to help get to Grocery Stores, Pharmacies and Urgent Appointments. There is no minimum donation required but just a gesture of gratitude for our Chauffeurs during this difficult time. In order to book a ride please Call 226-909-3111 and give us 24 hrs notice to help us to coordinate your travel needs.

United Way The Do Are you in quarantine or self-isolation and needing support? The United Way of Bruce is committed to helping those affected by the pandemic.  The Do - it's the place to go when you need help or you want to lend a hand to a neighbour in need. City of Owen Sound’s in response to COVID-19:
Striving to keep our residents and employees safe and to provide needed services, the City of Owen Sound is announcing the following changes effective Thursday, March 19th. - Owen Sound Transit service will be free of charge to patrons. Please remember that safe personal hygiene practices are extremely important at this time.- Bag tags are required for curbside garbage pickup. IF you are out of bag tags place household garbage at the curb on your normal scheduled day and it WILL be picked up. - Downtown parking enforcement will not be undertaken until further notice.
